Title I

The Rockcastle County School District receives federal Title I funds based on the percentage of students from low-income families.  The purpose of these funds are to improve the teaching and learning of children at risk of not meeting challenging academic standards.  This money funds staff members who provide extra small group and individual assistance to students; in addition, it provides a variety of instructional materials and activities.

In this district, the three elementary schools receive Title I funds. Each school qualifies for and has a school-wide program, meaning Title I money is used to develop an instructional program from which all students can benefit.  In short, all Title I funds are used to ensure every student has opportunities for success.

The Board of Education has developed a Title I Parent Involvement Policy that addresses ways in which staff and parents can work together to make the learning process effective for students. Each individual Title I school has its own policy and Parent/Teacher Compact.
