Mt. Vernon Elementary students had a sweet and educational experience as they spent the day at Rockcastle County High School, collaborating with the Family and Consumer Science program on a hands-on chemistry project—baking cookies!

The activity allowed young learners to explore the science behind baking, demonstrating how different ingredients interact to create the perfect treat. High school students in the Family and Consumer Science program guided their younger peers through measuring, mixing, and baking, emphasizing key chemistry concepts such as chemical reactions, heat transfer, and the role of ingredients like baking soda and flour.
