The City of Mt. Vernon has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting local students by donating proceeds from the annual Bittersweet Festival to the Mt. Vernon Elementary Snack Pack Backpack Program.
This generous contribution will help provide nutritious food items for students to take home on weekends, ensuring that every child has access to healthy meals even when school is not in session. The Snack Pack Backpack Program plays a vital role in supporting Mt. Vernon Elementary’s mission to care for the whole child—meeting both academic and basic needs so students can thrive.
The donation check was presented by Mayor Tim Roberts and City Manager Andrew Pensol, representing the city’s continued partnership with Rockcastle County Schools in supporting student success and well-being.
Mt. Vernon Elementary and Rockcastle County Schools would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to Mayor Roberts, Mr. Pensol, city officials, and everyone who participated in the Bittersweet Festival. Your generosity and community spirit continue to make a lasting difference in the lives of our students.
Together, we’re building a stronger, more caring community—one where every child can learn, grow, and succeed.
