Students from across the Rockcastle County School District showcased their spelling skills, focus, and determination during this year’s District Spelling Bee competition. Participants demonstrated impressive vocabulary knowledge and perseverance as they advanced through increasingly challenging rounds, celebrating academic excellence, confidence, and a love of language at both the elementary and middle school levels.
Elementary spellers amazed the audience with their preparation and poise. After several competitive rounds, the following students earned top honors:
1st Place: Cannon Whittamore (4th Grade, MVES)
2nd Place: Isabelle McGuire (5th Grade, MVES)
3rd Place: Weston French (5th Grade, MVES)
These students were recognized for their outstanding achievement and dedication to mastering spelling fundamentals.
The middle school competition featured advanced vocabulary and intense focus as students rose to the challenge. Congratulations to the top finishers:
1st Place: Avery Dobbs (6th Grade, Voyager)
2nd Place: Gus Akin (8th Grade, Challengers)
3rd Place: Gavin Hayes (6th Grade, Enterpriser)
