Rockcastle County Schools is proud to announce that Mrs. Starla Benge, Gifted and Talented Coordinator for Rockcastle County Schools, has been named the Kentucky Rural Teacher of the Year by the Kentucky Rural Education Association.
Sponsored by the Kentucky Rural Education Association in partnership with Eastern Kentucky University and Partners for Rural Impact, the Rural Teacher of the Year award recognizes educators who demonstrate exceptional dedication, innovation, and impact in rural schools and communities across the Commonwealth.
Through her work with the Gifted and Talented program, Mrs. Benge has made a lasting impact on students by creating meaningful opportunities that challenge learners, foster creativity, and support leadership development. Her commitment to supporting advanced learners and encouraging students to explore their unique talents reflects her passion for education and her dedication to helping every student reach their full potential.
Mrs. Benge’s work continues to strengthen opportunities for students across Rockcastle County Schools while advancing the district’s vision of developing Rocket Learners to Rocket Leaders.
As Kentucky’s recipient, Mrs. Benge will also be submitted as the state’s nomination for the National Rural Education Association Teacher of the Year.
