Rockcastle County Schools is proud to announce that Lucas Saylor and Callie Thacker have been selected as 2026 Governor’s Scholars—one of the most prestigious academic honors for high school students in Kentucky.
The Governor’s Scholars Program (GSP) is a highly competitive summer residential experience designed for outstanding students who are rising seniors. Participants are nominated by their high schools and then compete at the state level through a rigorous application process comparable to that of selective colleges and universities.
This summer, Lucas and Callie will take part in the six-week program hosted on one of three Kentucky college campuses: Centre College, Morehead State University, or Murray State University. During the program, they will engage in advanced academic study, leadership development, and collaborative learning experiences with peers from across the state.
Selection into GSP reflects not only academic excellence, but also leadership, creativity, and a commitment to growth—qualities that embody Rockcastle County Schools’ vision of developing Rocket Learners into Rocket Leaders.
Rockcastle County Schools congratulates Lucas and Callie on this outstanding achievement and looks forward to the continued impact they will make in our schools and community.
