Rockcastle Area Technology Center (RATC) HOSA students provided a meaningful and engaging learning experience by hosting a Teddy Bear Clinic for first-grade students across the district. This hands-on opportunity allowed young learners to explore basic health and wellness concepts in a fun, supportive environment.
Led by RATC HOSA members, each student received a stuffed animal patient and rotated through a series of interactive stations designed to mirror real-world medical settings. Stations included registration, personal protective equipment (PPE), vital signs, medication safety and vaccines, dental care, proper handwashing, X-ray, first aid, eyes, ears, and reflexes, and even a “spa” station focused on comfort and care.
Throughout the clinic, HOSA students guided the first graders through each step, helping them understand the importance of healthy habits while easing common fears associated with medical visits. The experience not only supported younger students in building confidence and familiarity with healthcare settings but also allowed HOSA members to strengthen their leadership, communication, and career-ready skills.
The Teddy Bear Clinic highlights Rockcastle County Schools’ commitment to creating meaningful, real-world learning opportunities. By connecting students of all ages through experiences like this, the district continues to grow future leaders while supporting the development of essential life skills.
From Rocket Learners to Rocket Leaders, this experience showcases the power of hands-on learning and student leadership in action. 🚀
