Thank you for participating!
Last week, RCHS Honors Club members spent time with CAP Preschool students, lending a hand and sharing smiles as part of their community service. From reading stories to creating art and learning through play, our high school students showed what leadership and kindness look like in action.
We’re so proud of their dedication to service and their positive impact on our youngest learners!

On Friday, October 24, over 30 members of the RCHS FFA completed a community service project at Rockcastle Health & Rehabilitation Center in Brodhead. Along with advisor Matt Whitaker, these students spread mulch and worked to beautify the landscaping for visitors and residents.
During this community project, members showed Innovative Leadership, Responsible Citizenship, and Active Collaboration--all traits that work to build a Portrait of a Rocket.

From classrooms to clubs, students across Rockcastle County Schools are taking responsibility for their choices, showing initiative, and leading with confidence.
Check out our October Habit of the Month newsletter to see how our Rockets are leading the way! 🚀

Speakers included principal Brandy Smith and instructor Brent Lovell.
The ceremony serves to formally welcome new members into the program.
Thank you to our JAG program and Mr. Lovell. These students volunteer within our community and demonstrate what it means to be a Responsible Citizen, one of the six characteristics in our Portrait of a Rocket.

Thank you!

The D&D and Magic: The Gathering Clubs, sponsored by Mr. Kevin Lewis and Mr. Sam Smith, are two of our most active clubs, frequently meeting after school and engaging in activities between club meetings.
On the first club day in October, the clubs welcomed Mr. Brian Sizemore and Mr. Dillan Lee from Turnbuckle World, a new business in Mt. Vernon. Turnbuckle World will be having club shirts made for both clubs, and they will also be donating gaming items throughout the year to the clubs.
Yesterday, D&D held their first after school meeting of the year, and several students were able to attend.

Leadership begins long before the classroom — it starts at home. Families can help children take responsibility and make thoughtful choices by using the “Pause, Think, Choose” method. Encourage your child to stop, reflect, and make the best choice for any situation. Together, we’re building strong proactive habits that last a lifetime!

We’re kicking off Red Ribbon Week and celebrating Rock Nation Spirit Day!
Show your pride and support by wearing RED and Rocket gear as we unite our schools, workplaces, and community to cheer on our Rockets and stand strong for a drug-free future.
Let’s fill Rockcastle County with Rocket spirit — wear your red, rep your Rockets, and let’s make it a day to remember! 🌟

Congratulations to the seventy-five RCHS students who collectively earned $7500 in student incentives for their qualifying scores on the AP Precalculus, AP Seminar, and AP English Literature exams in May! These incentives were possible due to individual teacher partnerships with AdvanceKentucky.
Today, we recognized our current RCHS students and presented each student their check during homeroom.
Thank you to Mrs. Stephanie Carter from AdvanceKentucky for coming today, and thank you to Mrs. Brandy Smith, Mr. JD Bussell, and Dr. Carrie Ballinger for supporting our students and our AP Program today and every day.
AdvanceKentucky supports teaching and learning in Advanced Placement® math, science, computer science, English, and Capstone courses to allow students to earn college credit while still in high school and develop the skills they need to be successful after high school. We are ever thankful for their support!
