Rockcastle Kiwanis is hosting their annual Christmas Tree Lighting this evening at 6:00 PM in Triangle Park! Enjoy festive performances from the MVES Musical Mustangs, RCHS Honors Choir, and RCMS Choir as they help bring holiday cheer to downtown Mount Vernon. 🎄

We’re also excited to recognize Ms. Abbey Reynolds, who was awarded $100 through our Staff Support Initiative for her exceptional dedication to supporting students and learning. 🚀

🚀 ROCKET LEARNER SPOTLIGHT: HABIT 2

Renezmae Dryer, a 3rd grader at Roundstone Elementary School, is being recognized for Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind. She set a personal goal to become a stronger reader and speller, and she works toward it each day with focus, persistence, and a readiness to take on new challenges. Renezmae’s dedication is a wonderful example of student leadership and purpose. 🌟

Rockcastle County Schools 4th grade GATE students enjoyed an incredible day of learning and exploration at Berea College! ⭐️ Their visit began at the Berea College Planetarium, where they experienced an immersive lesson on the Earth, Moon, and Sun. At the Yahng Discovery Center, students dove into hands-on STEM learning—using real microscopes to investigate live organisms in water samples and experiencing what it feels like to think and work like true scientists. They also toured the Loyal Jones Appalachian Center, where they gained a deeper understanding of the cultural and environmental history of the Appalachian region. A special shoutout goes to our RCHS Senior GATE students, who played an essential role in the day’s success by helping rotate groups and organize activities. Their leadership and support made the experience even more meaningful. Our students returned inspired, curious, and full of new knowledge—a fantastic day of learning beyond the classroom!🚀

What an amazing night for our school community! Rockcastle County High School’s Academic Team proudly hosted the RCS Elementary Academic League, and we were truly impressed by the effort, enthusiasm, and outstanding sportsmanship shown by every elementary competitor. Congratulations to all of the Elementary Academic League teams for your hard work and remarkable performances tonight! And a special shout-out to our RCHS Academic Team for organizing, hosting, and cheering on the next generation of academic competitors. Christmas Tree Lighting — This Friday! ✨
Rockcastle Kiwanis will host their annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, November 21, at 6:00 PM in Triangle Park. Our students will help make the night special with performances by the MVES Musical Mustangs, RCHS Honors Choir, and RCMS Choir. 🌲💫

We hope the community will come out and enjoy this festive celebration in downtown Mount Vernon!
