Today, our Rocket Leaders came together for a district-wide professional development day focused on Leader in Me training —a transformative framework based on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People that empowers educators to lead with confidence, strengthen school culture, and inspire students to reach their full potential. 🚀 A huge thank you to our local churches who adopted schools and generously cooked and served lunch for our staff. Your kindness and partnership fuel our mission in more ways than one!❤️

This afternoon, we were excited to welcome new staff from across Rocket Nation! 🚀 Superintendent Dr. Carrie Ballinger introduced our mission, vision, values, parameters, and pillars, inspiring our newest team members to embrace what it means to be a Rocket Leader. To close the event, our new staff signed their pledge to model the qualities of a true Rocket Leader.

Today, Rockcastle County Schools partnered with the Kentucky State Police to conduct an active shooter simulation. These training exercises are a vital part of ensuring we are fully prepared to respond swiftly and effectively in emergency situations.

We are incredibly thankful to all local and state agencies who participated and provided valuable feedback to help us strengthen our safety protocols and protect our students, staff, and community.

🚀Rock Tumblers 2025-26🚀
Join us for an AMAZING season of youth cheer! Ages 3 years old - 5th grade are eligible to participate.
Program Details:
•Practice 1x per week with RCHS Cheer: Mondays, 5:30-6:30PM at Brodhead Elementary School. Program runs Sept. - Jan. & follows school breaks
•Cheer 2-3 RCHS Varsity Games Per Season, participate in other events (TBD) with Rock Cheer, showcase a mini competition routine at RCHS Cheer’s Annual Rock Cheer Challenge Cheerleading Competition
•Uniform Fee ($75) - We will reuse the same uniform from years past. You can order the complete uniform or parts. The price is at cost.
•Monthly Tuition: $50/month (prorated if we do not practice 4x each month). Monthly tuition is required to participate in special events listed above!
•Instruction in cheerleading, including: tumbling, motions, jumps/flexibility, and stunts! Athletes are grouped by team based on age.
This is an amazing opportunity to be part of youth cheer in our county and prepare your athlete for potentially becoming part of Rock Cheer in the future ❤️🚀

That’s a wrap on our 2025 Summer Fuel-Up program! ☀️🚗🍎 We are so grateful to everyone who made this summer such a success—from our dedicated staff and volunteers to the families who participated each week. A special thank you to Citizens Bank for helping with today’s final pick-up and for supporting our Rocket Learners! We especially want to thank our amazing Food Service Department for their hard work preparing and organizing meals all summer long. Together, we’ve kept students fueled, healthy, and ready for the year ahead. We are proud to serve such a caring and supportive community! 🚀

Attention: In cooperation with Kentucky State Police, on Wednesday, August 6th, Rockcastle County Schools will conduct an active shooter simulation at Roundstone Elementary School located at 6701 N. Wilderness Rd. This simulation will begin around approximately 8:30 and will simulate an active shooter on the grounds of the school. School will NOT BE IN SESSION during this event. Several law enforcement vehicles, EMS, fire department vehicles, and other first responders will be present at the school from 8 am until approximately 12 pm that day.

Please be advised that this is ONLY A SIMULATION in order for us to be better prepared if an event of this nature ever occurs on one of our campuses.
