Ms. Starla Benge, Gifted and Talented Coordinator for Rockcastle County Schools, recently visited the Appalachian Studies class at RCHS to lead a hands-on workshop on traditional Appalachian corn husk dolls. This craft, rooted in Native American tradition and passed down through early Appalachian settlers, provided students with a meaningful connection to the region’s cultural heritage. The students enjoyed the opportunity to learn through experience and deepen their understanding of Appalachian history.
