🐴 Making Connections at MVES!
Today, students at Mt. Vernon Elementary had a great time participating in MVES Connect! Students explored their interests, built friendships, and connected with others through fun activities!
From Card Sharks, Nature Explorers, and Mighty Mustang Movers to Culture Crew, Rhythm Rockers, STEAM Connect, Song Birds, and many more, there was something for everyone!
What a great way for our Mustangs to learn, grow, and make meaningful connections beyond the classroom! 🌟

High Five Friday at RCMS! 🖐
Our District Leadership Team joined the Rocket Friday Community Welcome, hosted by our Full-Service Community Schools, to greet students as they arrived at RCMS this morning! We were also joined by members of Unbridled Church and Chestnut Ridge Church of Christ for a morning full of high fives, smiles, and Rocket spirit!
A special shoutout to all of our amazing community partners who visited schools across the district this morning to help our Rocket Learners start their Friday on a positive note! We appreciate your continued support of our students and schools! 🚀

Exploring Appalachian Culture Through Hands-On Learning! 🌟
RCHS Appalachian Studies students participating in the DiDVE project with the Smithsonian Institution recently explored Appalachian traditions by creating their own corn husk dolls!
Students learned about Cherokee traditions surrounding corn husk doll making and will use Smithsonian resources to compare these traditions with those of other groups throughout Appalachia.
This hands-on experience allows students to connect with the region's rich cultural heritage while gaining a deeper understanding of the traditions and stories that make Appalachia unique! 🚀

Anna Farmer, University of Kentucky College of Education Community Ambassador, recently visited MVES to share her project, “Ready, Set, READ!” with kindergarten and first-grade teachers, school leadership, and our Family Resource Director.

🚀 Our Rocket Learners put their skills and creativity on display at the Tech Showcase at the Center for Rural Development!
Students from the Rockcastle Area Technology Center (RATC) showcased projects and accomplishments from Automotive, Electricity, Welding, Business, and Health Science, highlighting the hands-on learning and career-ready skills happening across their programs.
Students from the Rockcastle Gifted and Talented (GATE) Program presented Kentucky Heritage projects connected to STEAM and put their problem-solving skills to work in a 3D printer bridge-building competition. RATC Welding students also tested their technical skills in a welding competition.
Throughout the event, students connected with experts in STEAM-related fields, explored career opportunities, and saw how classroom learning applies to real-world challenges.
